"Live, love, create" - Susan K.Weckesser

Hello everyone!!

This is actually a copy/paste of  my DT post over at  Susan K.Weckesser's blog!!

I have always wanted to incorporate my children's drawings into a layout!
I wanted them to remember how their creativity looked like in different stages of their childhood.

My dd Nefeli is now 5 years old and she is in the stage where she always draws houses, people, trees, flowers and of course a bright sun!!!
So when I saw Susan's house stamp, a great idea came to my mind!!! I got my children to play with it!!!

Let me just tell you that they were thrilled!!! Nefeli even played with Susan's fab stencil!!!

And this is Ioli...

Here is the final layout! Every child next to its own little house!!

Here is another stamp called "Grandma's needlepoint" and the house has been cut out from Susan's paper collection.

The sun is from Susan's paper collection too!!!

Materials used:
Papers: Whimsical paper line by Susan K.Weckesser
Cardstock: American Crafts
Button, Flair buttons, washi tape: Purple Pumpkin

So, why don't you try that out??? I promise that your children will love the idea of playing with mama's "forbidden" goodies and the outcome will be a precious layout that captivates a precious memory!!!

p.s. Here are the "Art" quotes that I've written around the page:

1. A work of art is the unique result of a unique temperament.
2. The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.
3. Every artist was first an amateur.
4. Art is the only way to run away without leaving home.
5. In art, the hand can never execute anything higher than the heart can imagine.
6. In art as in love, instinct is enough.

Have a nice creative day and have fun!!!
Hugsss

"Destination: Rome" - Scrapmatts

Hello my friends!!!

"I would like to apologize to some of my contacts! Someone from Hong Kong hacked my yahoo email and sent a spam to lots of people! Just ignore it! Thanks!!!"
This is my first post for Scrapmatts and I would like to take this opportunity to thank Sophie and Andrew for having me in their wonderful DT and for their generocity!!! I received a pile of beautiful chipies that made me soooo happy!!!
I have made a tag to welcome a new journey...year 2013!!! I wish everyone all the best!!!
I am loving the "art journal" style lately!!!
"New journey 2013"
I have used two different shapes for this:
Hot air balloons CB5035 01
and CB1136 assorted words 02

To make the background, I have used "The crafter's workshop" stencils, some mists, washi tape from Purple Pumpkin and travel stamps by Glitz! I have heat embossed the balloon with black embossing powder and I have randomly painted it with my finger and some gesso. The word "journey" was painted with white acrylic paint and then with glimmer glam.
***
And here is a layout I made with a photo of me just to introduce myself! In 2009 I visited Rome with my DH and we LOVED it!!!! I don't have many photos of me because I am usually/always the one holding the photo camera..LOL

"Sorry for the photo on this layout..the colors came out really bad but I didn't have the time to print it out at a store..my printer is playing games...pffff...."
"Destination: Rome"
I have used:
ATC film strip 10-022

CB1136 assorted words 02

Butterflies 02 CB4009

and Leaf spray 01 CB5082

The flowers and trims are "Green Tara" and the buttons & washi tape from "Purple Pumpkin". I have painted the butterfly with black acrylic paint and the I dabbed some black stickles over it with my finger! I did the same with the word "Destination" and just added a little white paint. The spray leaf was first painted white and then I went over it with green disstress stain. I painted the film strip black and then I randomly applied some copper embossing powder!!! I loved the result!!!

So, that's all for now!! I hope you enjoyed my first post!!!
See you all later!!!!

Photos from the Greek Crop & Green Tara goodies!!!

Hello my friends !!!

How are you??? I know that I don't blog so often this month but I've been super busy scrapping so you will see what I've been up to later on ;)

I made these layouts for Green Tara! I started making the 1st one at a crop but I finished it at home..LOL...I cannot scrap at crops! We, Greek gals, are super talkative and VEEEEERY LOUD!!! Unfortunately I am the kind of scrapper that needs total quiet to focus..:(

And here is a photo from the Greek crop organized by my friend Katerina Laiopoulou and the rest of the "Scrapbooking in Greece DT!!!
(I am not in this photo)

I LOOOOOOVE YOU GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had a great time!!! Thank you!!!!

Oh, here I am! The one in the middle holding my DD Ioli!!!

***********************

Now, on to the layouts!!!

I decided to use bold striking colors for my layouts this time! They just make me happy!!!
For the background, I have cut a few stripes of patterned paper and have put them in the middle!
I used some brown glimmer glam and a few different size bottle tops to make the circles! Then I splashed some drops of glimmer mist and I added some stickles randomly here and there!!!

"Peek-a-hoot"

A very clever thing to do is to use the flower sprays! You can cut them to pieces and spread them all around the page!! They look amazing!!!

I have used the beautiful new satin rosettes, the heirloom and the lace flowers! They are just awesome!!
I also love to use the cobweb (in ANY color) and the lovely bud & bow ribbon!!!

Look at these gorgeous wooden PP buttons! I love them!!!

Roses are my favorite flowers and you will see them in almost all my projects!

"Boyz in class love me"

For this background, I have used a stencil, distress inks and gesso!!!

Something else I love to use in any color are the skeleton leaves!!!
They are discreet and yet so impressive and add texture!!

It gives nice texture to a project!

"Happy New Year" - Scrapbooking in Greece & Purple Pumpkin!

Hello my dear friends!!

Happy new year to everyone!!! My wish for you in 2013 is to be healthy, happy, lucky, loved and creative!!! I am sorry for the late post but I was away on vacation and then I was in bed with tonsillitis :(
But now I am back and I feel much better!!!

So here is a card I made for "Scrapbooking in Greece" and I dedicate it to all of you!!!

As you can see, I have created a tree using some yummy Purple Pumpkin spotty buttons!!
The card is very simple but I love it! I used my bigshot to make the embossed background and then I inked it with distress inks. I have also used green washi tape all around to create a frame!

Now, the new sketch by Crece over at Purple Pumpkin blog looks like this:

And my take on it:

"Tree-mendous"

I have used lots of Purple Pumpkin goodness!!!
Doily and red button!

I love these vintage buttons! This cluster is 100% PP products! The felt and crochet doilies, buttons, brown flower, craft tag, washi tape and twine!!!

Materials used:
Papers & stickers: Echo Park
Embellishments: Purple Pumpkin
Distrezz-it-all by Zutter

I hope you all had great holidays and that 2013 will be the best year ever!!!
Thanks for coming by! I'll be back soon ;)
Hugs and kisses!!!
